I trained at RADA, studying general Technical Theatre before specialising in lighting. My work has ranged from site-specific shows in scout huts for the Battersea Arts Club, to full-blown musicals complete with acrobats, animals, pyros and bubble machines. I’ve rocked up at the Edinburgh Festival with shows plotted blind to try and squeeze every minute out of a 5-hour tech, and spent two days sat in the dark with a lighting desk plotting the intricate details of a dance show. I also worked at the National Theatre as LX Crew at the start of my career, with a short stint in AV to learn more about video technology and how it’s changing the industry.
Since then I’ve worked on shows ranging from the sublime to the chaotic. Highlights have included working for Morphic Graffiti on their musicals; the New Diorama on shows from the hilarious to the deeply philosophical; for South Hill Park on professional and community projects; a range of productions at the Royal Northampton for Northampton University; and recently contemporary dance for Rachel Birch-Lawson. It has been a privilege to be part of so many shows that have brought so much joy and so much power to an audience
